DeKalb County, Alabama – Pam Clay, Business Retention and Expansion Director of the DeKalb County Economic Development Authority, recently graduated from TVA’s Rural Leadership Institute. The Rural Leadership Institute, developed and sponsored by TVA Economic Development, provides professional leadership training to rural community economic development professionals in the TVA service area.

5th Annual Made In DeKalb Expo Success

The Fifth Annual Made In DeKalb (MID) Expo was a huge success yesterday as over 1,800 students were able to meet the industries in DeKalb County Alabama. 15 of the 16 Career Clusters were represented by 74 participating vendors such as transportation, logistics, construction, engineering, agriculture, tourism, mechanics, cosmetology, healthcare, and the media met their future workforce.

Fort Payne was, at one time, known internationally as the “Sock Capital of the World,” and while the city may be a ways away from regaining that moniker, a new deal with Wal-Mart and the Renfro Corporation is a positive step in the right direction.
